When PC Andy Davidson arrests a young girl for shoplifting, he thinks it's going to be a routine case. That is, until he sees that she is carrying a gun. The girl is soaking wet, covered in mud, and the weapon is like nothing he's ever seen before. He knows that this is a case for Torchwood... The team discovers that the girl is called Freda, but can find out nothing else. Yet when she speaks, it's a strange mix of English and Icelandic, but with a Cardiff accent. While Jack and Ianto check out the girl's weapon and her blood sample at the Hub, Gwen and PC Andy take Freda to a safe house. But when Jack calls with the results - and Freda goes on the run - PC Andy finds his world turning upside down.

Torchwood: Asylum is written specially for BBC Radio by Anita Sullivan, and it stars John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones and Tom Price as PC Andy Davidson. The audio drama will be released on CD on the 2nd of July at the recommended retail price of £9.78 in the UK and Ireland. The BBC have today revealed the name of the actress who will be playing the 11th Doctor's companion in the fifth series of Doctor Who. Karen Gillian is the name of the actress and she will be starring alongside Matt Smith who will play the 11th Doctor. Karen is 21 years old and can be seen above in a promotional image of her standing in front of the Tardis. Karen Gillian said; "I am absolutely over the moon at being chosen to play the Doctor's new companion. The show is such a massive phenomenon that I can't quite believe I am going to be a part of it. "Matt Smith is an incredible actor and it is going to be so much fun to act alongside him – I just can't wait to get started!" Steven Moffat who is the executive producer and head writer for series five was quoted saying; "We saw some amazing actresses for this part, but when Karen came through the door the game was up. Funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy. Or Scottish, which is the quick way of saying it. A generation of little girls will want to be her. And a generation of little boys will want them to be her too." Karen Gillan has previously appeared in television programmes such as New Town Killers, Harley Street, Stacked, Coming Up, The Kevin Bishop Show and Rebus. She also appeared in the Doctor Who series four episode "The Fires of Pompeii" as one of the Soothsayers. More information about this news can be read here on the official Doctor Who website. Doctor Who Film Script in Development

The BBC Entertainment reporter Lizo Mizimba, who is also a Doctor Who fan, has recently posted on his Twitter account that BBC Films are currently developing a script for a Doctor Who movie script. Lizo Mzimba's said on his Twitter post; "BBC Films have confirmed a Doctor Who film script is in development. But if it does go into full production that's likely to be some time away. So, to be clear, it's not guaranteed a Doctor Who movie will be made. All BBC Films are doing is developing a script, before making a decision." My Park Magazine are also now reporting that David Tennant will be coming back as the Tenth Doctor for the movie. A BBC Films insider was told this to My Park Magazine; “The script is still in the early stages but he wants to be in the film. There have already been discussions and David needs to feel the story is right, but right now things are looking very positive. Potentially it’s a perfect scenario for him. He understandably wants to do different roles but still loves Doctor Who. It’s certainly feasible that David could be the Doctor on film while Matt does the series. As all fans know David’s story can easily be set in a different time to Matt’s. That’s one of the great things about the show - anything can happen.” Please remember that it is not definite as of yet that a film will be made.

New Russell T Davies Interviews

The Doctor Who specials for 2009 are the last episodes Russell T Davies has done work for but he will continue to write episodes and be the executive producer for the spin-off shows Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. The Sarah Jane Adventures Press Release

The BBC Press Office have published a press release regarding the third series of the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures online today. It contains new information about the third series, such as what monsters will appear and what the episodes will be about. It also includes news about David Tennant appearing in one of the stories which we reported yesterday. The press release can be seen below.

Doctor Who fans are in for a treat this Autumn as David Tennant makes a special appearance as The Doctor in CBBC's hit drama series The Sarah Jane Adventures with a starring role across two episodes.

Investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith, one-time companion to that strange wanderer in time and space known as The Doctor, is reunited with her old friend as The Sarah Jane Adventures is back for a third series of alien-busting adventures on CBBC this September.

Elisabeth Sladen, who plays Sarah Jane, says: "When I heard the news that David was going to be joining us I was absolutely over the moon. Not only has it made my day but it will also make the viewers' day.

"It's fantastic news that Sarah Jane is going to spend some time working with The Doctor again and is testament to just how successful this CBBC series is."

Russell T Davies, Executive Producer of The Sarah Jane Adventures, adds: "Viewers thought they may have to wait until November for the next full episode of Doctor Who, but this is an extra special treat.

"And it's not just a cameo from David – this is a full-on appearance for The Doctor as he and Sarah Jane face their biggest threat ever."

The series includes 12 weeks of brand new adventures featuring a new alien race, the reptilian Veil and their enemies the Judoon, alongside an extraterrestrial girl that can make people play games against their will.

There will also be a living painting, the inhabitants of a supposedly haunted house, monsters who want to infect Earth with a strangely aggressive weed and a chance for Sarah Jane to find personal happiness with someone who could be the perfect person to complete her family.

Alongside adopted son Luke, Sarah Jane's team is made up of Luke's streetwise pal Clyde Langer, their schoolmate Rani, who lives opposite and has aspirations to become a journalist like Sarah Jane, and Mr Smith, their Xylok supercomputer up in the attic, plus Sarah Jane's robot dog, K-9.

David Tennant will be appearing in the fifth and sixth episodes of the series. Although it was previously reported that the Judoon may be appearing in the series it is now confirmed, and we know that they are after the the reptilian Veil. The Sarah Jane Adventures series three is currently filming and will air in Autumn this year on BBC One and CBBC.

The Doctor Appears in The Sarah Jane Adventures

This months issue of Doctor Who Magazine reveals that David Tennant will be appearing in The Sarah Jane Adventures series three as the 10th Doctor. Russell T Davies told the magazine that David Tennant will be starring in a two-part story which is set to air in the Autumn. We already know that K9 will be appearing in a number of stories in the series, but Russell T Davies has confirmed that he will be in the episode with David Tennant, and this will possibly wave him off from the show to the new K9 series. Russell T Davies says "... it's more than just a cameo from the Tenth Doctor! He's a proper part of the story." He also adds that the episode is "extraordinary, wild and powerfully moving," and then adding, "let's just say that the wedding of Sarah Jane will be a day for everyone to remember!"

New Doctor Who Animation Confirmed

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine which will go on sale this Thursday, the 28th of May, reveals that a new animated Doctor Who story titled "Dreamland" will be available through the BBC's red button service and through the Childrens BBC in Autumn. There will be seven episodes comprising of approximately six minutes each.

Timothy Dalton in Doctor Who?

Various different sources are reporting that the famous Welsh actor, Timothy Dalton, will play a big part in one of the last Doctor Who specials of the year. Timothy is best known for portraying James Bond in the films "The Living Daylights" and "Licence to Kill", and he has also appeared in many other films and plays over the years. Some reports suggest that Timothy will play a villian in the episode, and you can read The Sun's report on this on their official website here. Please note that at the moment these are just rumours which may turn out to be true or false. More information on this and other news regarding the specials will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.

Possible Torchwood Exhibition in Cardiff Bay

It has been revealed that an exhibition for Torchwood is under review for a location in Cardiff Bay in Wales. The experience design team behind the Doctor Who Up Close Exhibition in the near by Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff Bay are currently trying to get a possible venue for the exhibition to be held. Martin Wilkie from the company said; "A Torchwood Exhibition would be a great addition to the Bay area. We have looked at several sites for a Torchwood Exhibition but we are hoping that this one might be available soon. The appeal of Torchwood brings many visitors to Cardiff Bay, especially to see the Torchwood Water Tower. The building we are hoping to use for the Torchwood Exhibition is near this famous TV landmark and would offer visitors a unique chance to see many of the key props, costumes and even recent creatures from the up-coming 2009 series, how great would that be!" More news on this exhibition will be posted as soon as it becomes available. You can keep checking the Torchwood Exhibition website here for updates. At the moment this exhibition is hoped to be opened by July, just in time for Torchwood series 3, "Children of Earth".

Ood Sigma is Coming Back

The News of the World is running an article which reports that Ood Sigma will be returning in the final Doctor Who special of the year which see's the regeneration of the 10th Doctor. Ood Sigma previously appeared in the series 4 episode "Planet of the Ood" and he was the assistant of Mr Halpen and he helped the Doctor and Donna to free the Ood from slavery. At the end of that episode Ood Sigma revealed to the Doctor that "his song is ending soon". A picture of David Tennant and Ood Sigma filming for the episode has been posted online. The picture was taken on Friday night at the Brandon Estate in London which acts as the Powell Estate in Doctor Who and can be seen below;

A couple of months ago Ood Sigma was spotted filming with David Tennant and Lindsay Duncan for the upcoming Doctor Who special episode, The Waters of Mars, which will air in and around November this year. It seems that Ood Sigma is a key part in the 10th Doctor's regeneration and from the photo taken of the Ood he seems to have red eyes which indicates he is under control, as previously seen in "The Impossible Planet", "The Satan Pit", and "Planet of the Ood". David Tennant's last Doctor Who episode will air at Christmas time this year.

Rose and Jackie Return

Last night both Billie Piper and Camille Coduri who played Rose Tyler and Jackie Tyler in the first, second, and fourth series of Doctor Who were seen filming for the last episodes of Doctor Who with David Tennant as the Doctor which confirms that they will be making a return to the show. Filming took place at the Brandon Estate in London which acts as the Powell Estate in Doctor Who and it seems as though this scene was not taking place in the parallel universe where Rose and her family are currently living. Some filming pictures from last night can be seen below courtesy of MatrixPhotos.com.

Someone who was watching filming yesterday has said that this is what happened in the scene; It's the 2005 new year and Rose and Jackie are walking through the snow outside their home in the Powell Estate. The Doctor walks over to them wounded, and he asks what year is it, and Rose replies "2005 mate", and then the Doctor predicts that it is a good year for Rose. The last two Doctor Who specials will around around Christmas and the new year.

Matt Smith will start filming for Doctor Who in a couple of months time, and Steven Moffatt will take over from Russell T Davies as the executive producer and head writer for the show. A full 5th series of Doctor Who will air early next year on BBC One but before that there are still 3 specials with David Tennant as the Doctor which will air later this year.

Lily Allen Wants Role in Doctor Who

The famous English singer and actress Lily Allen has told My Park Magazine that she thinks she would be the ideal person to take the role as the Doctor's companion when Matt Smith becomes the Doctor in series 5 of Doctor Who next year. She thinks she can bring an "edge" to the part and would be a perfect fit as she is only two years younger than Matt Smith who is 26. Lily Allen said; "Oh yeah, I have my eye on that project. I'm a massive fan of Doctor Who, and me and Matt are in the same age bracket, so it would look far better if they had someone like me." Eve Myles Announces Pregnancy

Eve Myles, the actress who plays Gwen Cooper in Torchwood has announced in an interview with What's on TV magazine that she is expecting her first child with her partner. She told the magazine that she has been pregnant for around three and a half months and that her life as a mother will not affect her role in Torchwood. An extract from Eve Myles interview can be read below:

"I've wanted to do this for such a long time, but I kept getting job after job after job. I thought, if I put this off any more I'm going to be 65. My partner and I decided this year was going to be the year, and we were blessed that it happened so quickly. It's the best thing that ever happened to me – we're over the moon. We went for a scan and my mum was there. And my mum went: 'No, it's not a Nostrovite! It's a real Welsh human!' But of course it crosses my mind – I hope it's not an alien! I hope we get a new series. I'd really like to play Gwen as a mother. It's not like I have to really save the world – I just have to sit in make-up!"

I would like to congratulate Eve Myles and her partner and wish them the best for the future. Eve Myles will star in Torchwood: Children of Earth which will air over five consecutive nights this June on BBC One.
