"Torchwood and Captain Jack were born from the mother ship, which I always called and referenced as Doctor Who," he said. "I think it would be an interesting thing. I would love to do it.
"If Matt was welcome to it, because he is The Doctor now, I think it would be great. I think it would be a different kind of dynamic there with Jack and The Doctor. So, yes, I'm totally up for it."
"I think it would be disappointing for the 50th anniversary not to have a character like Jack in that show," he said. "Russell thinks it would be a good idea, I've spoken to Steven about it. I love playing Jack, whether with Torchwood or making an appearance on Doctor Who, It's the best coat I could put on every morning.
"It was a dream job for me and [Torchwood co-star] Eve [Myles] and then when they said they wanted to do a spin off show, it was just like being handed our dream job on a platter. We never ever thought we'd be sitting here among people like you. "

"I left because of politics. I did not see eye-to-eye with them. I didn't agree with the way things were being run.
I didn't like the culture that had grown up around the series. So I left over a principle. I thought to remain, which would have made me a lot of money and given me huge visibility, the price I would have had to pay was to eat a lot of s**t.
I've always acted for adults and then suddenly you're acting for children, who are far more tasteful - they will not be bulls**tted."

Although we previously knew a new series of The Adventure Games was commissioned, the BBC have now released a press statement about the first game, which will feature two returning enemies and for the first time you will be able to play the game as Rory! See the press release below:
The new Adventure Game will be released October, 2011 and is called The Gunpowder Plot.
It's the most ambitious Adventure Game to date and stars Matt Smith as the Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy and for the first time, Arthur Darvill as Rory Williams. This new, dazzlingly epic story gives you the chance to battle aliens in London, 1605. But as well as extra-terrestrial monsters, you'll meet Guy Fawkes (visualisation above) and really get a feel for what was happening at this incendiary moment in Britain's history. It's your chance to virtually step back in time, chat to famous figures and participate in one of the most notorious plots the world has ever known.
We're delighted to say that The Gunpowder Plot also sees the return of two old enemies... more about them soon! Right now we can confirm that this, the fifth Adventure Game, was written by Phil Ford (Doctor Who: The Adventure Games, The Sarah Jane Adventures and co-writer of The Waters of Mars) and produced by Gary Russell. The executive producers are Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger, Beth Willis, Anwen Aspden and Charles Cecil.
The Gunpowder Plot will be the most advanced of the Adventure Games so far. Gamers will be able to play as the Doctor, Amy and Rory, exploring the immersive environments of this historic period. The adventure will feature multi-linear gameplay, even more sophisticated puzzles, and a complex lighting system specifically designed to recreate the atmosphere of 17th Century London. And for the very first time, the introduction of portal technology will enable gamers to experience for themselves that the TARDIS really is bigger on the inside...
To accompany the game, BBC Learning will be offering teachers an online resource pack containing unique, downloadable assets to support History and Literacy in the classroom. And in the adventure itself you'll be meeting not just the main figures from the plot, but everyday Londoners who lived through an exciting, dangerous and fascinating era.
The Adventure Games have received over 2.6 million download requests since the launch of the first adventure, City of the Daleks, which SFX called 'the best Who game to date.' The series was a finalist at the Develop Awards and nominated at the Banff World Media Festival for Best Branded Entertainment.
As always, the Adventure Game will be free in the UK and we'll be giving you more information soon. The Gunpowder Plot explodes in approximately three months time. It may not rhyme, but remember, remember... October!

After Piers Wagner and Beth Willis announced they were leaving Doctor Who as Executive producers after Series 6, it wouldn't be long before a new producer was announced.“The exec joining me on Doctor Who is Caroline Skinner. Somewhere between me laughing in a basement and choosing planets to invade, and Marcus Wilson raising armies, there has to be a Prime Minister actually running the whole thing. It takes a particular kind of person to work on this show – you have to be prepared to work every day, and above all, understand that Doctor Who is impossible to make and then make it anyway. I could see all that in Caroline.”

"Miranda was thrilled to be asked to be on Doctor Who. Steven offered her a decent role and she felt, as it was on the BBC, there would be no problem. But the BBC One controller let it be known that he wants her focused on her show, which he has nabbed from BBC Two. Miranda's gutted as she feels she could do both."
