Unofficial overnight figures show that The Next Doctor was watched by 11.7 million viewers, with a share of 50.5% of the audience.The ratings are the highest achieved by the programme in 2008 and the second highest since the show returned in 2005, just being beaten by last years Christmas Special, Voyage of the Damned. The programme was the second highest rated of Christmas day, and of Christmas week so far.
