The BBC have revealed who the producers will be for Doctor Who series five. Tracie Simpson, the producer of the recent Doctor Who Easter special, Planet of the Dead, and Peter Bennett, the producer of Torchwood: Children of Earth will both be joining the production team as producers for the fifth series. Beth Willis, the producer of the award winning programme Ashes to Ashes will be joining Steven Moffatt and Piers Wenger as an executive producer. Steven Moffat said the following;
"Beth and Tracie and Pete aren't the A Team, they're the people the A Team call. Tracie and Pete are the backstage stars of Doctor Who and having them on board as producers isn't just the best possible news for Matt Smith's first series, it's a massive relief."
"And Beth Willis, fresh from the brilliant Ashes To Ashes, is joining Piers and I as an executive so finally there'll be someone to wear the trousers."
The fifth series of Doctor Who will go into production soon and it will broadcast in Spring 2010 on BBC One. Matt Smith will be taking over David Tennants role as the Doctor, and Steven Moffat will be taking over from Russell T Davies as the lead writer for the series.
