The official date for Doctor Who has finally been released! Edward Russel, senior brand executive for Doctor Who took to Twitter to confirm that the 27th August is the airdate for Doctor Who in the UK.

The BBC has also released a press pack for the Series. Warning for spoilerphobes, the press-pack gives away plot details.

"The wait is almost over. The second part of the thrilling new series of Doctor Who begins on 27 August 2011. 

"The rules have changed, and the game is deadlier than ever. Out in the universe, where the earthly rules of time and space do not apply, Amy and Rory know only too well that their baby daughter needs them.
