The overnight ratings are in for last night’s premiere of the Doctor Who series 6 finale. The Wedding of River Song had 6.1 million watching, with an audience share of 28.3%. It was the third most watched show of the day behind the X Factor (9.5 million) and Strictly Come Dancing (7.5 million), beating Merlin which had 5.2 million watching.

Final BARB ratings will be released in 10 days and will see a significant rise in viewing figures as it counts those who recorded the show to watch later.
