On this very day 48 years ago millions of people across the UK tuned in to see the very first episode of this strange new show featuring an alien who travels in time and space in a blue police box at 5.20pm on the BBC! Who knew that 48 years on it would continue to be loved and cherished by so many? Bring on the 50th!
