MATT SMITH ON THE LATE LATE SHOW

With Karen Gillan appearing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson earlier this week, it’s time for Matt Smiths appearance! Watch below:

TORCHWOOD FUTURE NOT GURANTEED

Even though viewing figures for Miracle Day have been strong both sides of the Atlantic, the future of Torchwood is still not clear.

Speaking to the TV Critics Show, Starz CEO Chris Albrecht has explained:
"Torchwood is not one of the shows we went into thinking about a yearly return. It’s about Russell T Davies - he has a lot of things on his plate. If Torchwood is not at the top of his list, that will affect the future of Torchwood."
Back in February, Russell T Davies told BBC Wales Today:
"It's interesting as to how long I can stay in the science fiction world. Personally I think I'm coming to the end of it now and I've saved the world and blown up the world too many times, and I hope I leave Torchwood in rude health, and then I'll probably move onto something else then. It's time to write something just where people talk in kitchens, at least for me. But I hope we literally leave the franchise in in a very strong position that other writers come in and take it over."
So it seems Russell T Davies is ready to step down from Torchwood, but what will that mean for Torchwood's future. Is there going to be a future?

THE DOCTOR WILL NEVER APPEAR IN TORCHWOOD

Steven Moffat has revealed that the Doctor will never appear in the spin-off show Torchwood, because it is not suitable for Doctor Who's audience.

Talking to TVLine, Moffat said:
"The Doctor could never go to Torchwood, Russell and I both agree on that. Doctor Who has a tremendous relationship with children in Britain. They'd want to watch Torchwood then, and it's not really a children's show."
However, he's stated that he wants John Barrowman to return to Doctor Who, and he almost had Captain Jack featuring in A Good Man Goes to War:
"I'd have [brought back Captain Jack] for 'A Good Man Goes To War', but John was busy doing Miracle Day... When we've got a good story, we'll do it. You can't just bring somebody back and say, 'That's a story'. I won't be thinking, 'How do you bring Captain Jack back?' I'll be thinking, 'You know what this needs? We need to bring Jack back for it'."
Do you want Captain Jack back in Doctor Who?

MATT SMITH: MY FAVOURITE DOCTOR IS 2ND

Matt Smith has revealed that Patrick Troughton who played the second incarnation of the Doctor is his favourite.

Smith, who is currently playing the eleventh incarnation says he loves the peculiar nature of Troughton.
"I love Patrick Troughton. 'Tomb of the Cybermen' is one of my favourite stories. It's so creepy," he told Newsarama. "What I think is wonderful about Troughton is he's weird and peculiar but he never asks you to find him weird and peculiar. He was a great actor. And I think the Cybermen are as scary as they've ever been in that one story."
In the past, critics have likened Smith's odd presence to that of Troughton. Do you see a bit of the 2nd Doctor coming through into the 11th?

MATT SMITH WANTS MULTI-DOCTOR STORY

Matt Smith has said that he wants to current Doctor to star along-side past Doctor's for the 50th anniversary in 2013.

Recently, John Barrowman and David Tennant have expressed their interest in returning to the show for 2013, but Christopher Eccelston has expressed the total opposite saying he wouldn't "bath in the same river twice".

Matt smith said:
"That's still over a year away but I'd love for it to happen, how amazing would it be to see Tom Baker [back as the Fourth Doctor]? Can you imagine just seeing him back in the scarf, man? That would be amazing.
Paul McGann is a great actor, man, and a great Doctor. I say bring back Chris [Eccleston] and Dave [Tennant], too! How many Doctors can we get into one story? Imagine if there were five or six of us in one ep and we could all just look at each other and judge each other."
In the past, multi-Doctor story have marked the show's big birthday's, with The Three Doctors, The Five Doctors and The Two Doctors.

Do you want a multi-Doctor episode?

KAREN GILLAN'S WEST END DEBUT

It seems that Karen Gillan will be making her west end theatre debut this Autumn with the revival of John Osbourne's 1964 play Inadmissible Evidence.
Bill Maitland, a middle aged lawyer, struggles to avoid the harsh truths of his life and keep a hold on reality. As those closest to him begin to draw away, he puts himself on trial to fight for his sanity.
The play will be on at  Donmar Warehouse Theatre, and she will be playing Bill Maitland's secretary, Shirley

The Daily Mail has reported that Gillan really impressed the director, Jamie Lloyd.
Karen read twice for him at auditions and he was impressed with her charisma and her natural instincts. "More importantly, she can do the text convincingly and she feels as if she comes from that Sixties British Mad Men world," Lloyd added.
The play starts on 13th October and runs until 26th November.
