Congratulations to Matt Smith and Karen Gillan on winning their very first National Television Awards earlier tonight! Matt won Best Male Drama Performance whilst Karen picked up the Best Female Drama Performance award, becoming the first companion to do so since Billie Piper won back in 2006! Sadly Doctor Who lost out on the Best Drama award to Downton Abbey, but Doctor Who has enough awards under its belt to last a life time!
