Dreamland, the recent animation feature will be coming to DVD on the 1st of February for £12.99. The DVD has 2 discs as it doesn’t just feature the 45 minute animation, but also the 3, hour-long Doctor Who Greatest Moments behind the scenes episodes. It’s unknown if it will be released on Blu-ray.

“Dreamland sees the iconic TARDIS touch down in the desert in the USA. Stumbling across a mysterious alien artefact in a local diner, the Doctor is led to Area 51, also known as Dreamland, the US' most secret base. He then finds himself on a momentous mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the ruthless Viperox and the clutches of the American military. Created in eye-catching high-definition 3-D animation, the series sees the Doctor, played by David Tennant, hook up with two new companions - Cassie (Georgia Moffett) and Jimmy (Tim Howar) - and pits him against a new alien race, the monstrous Viperox, led by Lord Azlok (David Warner).”

The Doctor Who animated adventure Dreamland was watched by 0.45 million viewers, with an audience share of 6.5%, according to overnight ratings. Final  ratings will be released soon. You can watch the adventure on iPlayer.

Dreamland will be shown on TV on Saturday the 5th of December on BBC 2.

The first episode of the new animation is now available online and a new part will be available from 4pm everyday via the official Doctor Who website or on the BBC Red Button up until next Thursday when it finishes. The animation will be shown in full on Saturday the 5th of December at 10am on BBC 2, and at 5.55pm on BBC HD, and it will be released on DVD on the 2nd of February next year. The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine, out tomorrow, includes some new images from the upcoming Doctor Who animation; Dreamland. You can see two pictures below thanks to Blogtor Who, the first is a production sketch of the 10th Doctor in a diner, and the second is of Lord Azlok with Colonel Stark. The Dreamland animation consists of seven six minute episodes.

The Doctor Who Dreamland blog on the official BBC Doctor Who website has been updated with two new behind the scenes videos on the upcoming animated adventure, one which looks at editing the animation, and the other is of Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner answering fan questions.

Dreamland will be available in six parts on the BBC's Red Button service and on the official Doctor Who website this Autumn, before it is broadcast in full on BBC Two and BBC HD. The official BBC Doctor Who website is now running a blog about Dreamland and you can view it online here.

The BBC Press Office have released a press release for the upcoming Doctor Who animated adventure; Dreamland. The animation includes the voices of David Tennant as the Doctor, and Georgia Moffett who played Jenny in series four, but as Cassie Rice, the Doctor’s new companion for the animation. The BBC today releases the first image of the animated Doctor as he will appear in the new animation, Dreamland, which is due for broadcast later this year.

The six-part series will be premièred via the BBC Red Button on BBC One and the Doctor Who website (bbc.co.uk/doctorwho).

The 45-minute long animation will be broadcast in its entirety on CBBC on BBC Two this autumn and also on the BBC HD channel.

Written by Phil Ford (Doctor Who, Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures) Dreamland will see the Doctor – played by David Tennant – arrive at the infamous alien hot spot, Roswell.

During a visit to a local diner he stumbles upon a mysterious alien artefact that leads him on a mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the Viperox and the clutches of the American military.

Joining David Tennant will be Georgia Moffett (Doctor Who, Spooks) in the role of Cassie Rice – the Doctor's new animated companion.

David Warner (Wallander, Hogfather) also stars as the leader of the ruthless Viperox.

In the run-up to the animation, fans will be able to visit the Doctor Who website (bbc.co.uk/doctorwho) to follow a behind-the-scenes production blog on the making of Dreamland, giving the opportunity to follow the progress of the animation as it develops.

Dreamland was commissioned by BBC Drama Multiplatform and will be produced for the BBC by Brighton-based animation company Littleloud.

It is being executive produced by Russell T Davies, Julie Gardner and Piers Wenger, with Gary Russell as director.

Russell T Davies said: "Dreamland is a remarkable project and I'm thrilled with it. Phil Ford is a wonderful writer and promises to send the Doctor into a whole new visual dimension."
