DWA #60 Out Now

(Thanks to DWO for the cover. Click to enlarge!)

Doctor Who Adventures Magazine - Issue #60
BBC Magazines Trade Release

Catherine Tate interviewed in this week’s Doctor Who Adventures magazine

You can’t have failed to notice that there’s a new person travelling aboard the TARDIS – Donna Noble, as played by Catherine Tate.

In this week’s Doctor Who Adventures, out on Thursday 17 April, Catherine Tate tells the magazine about the fun she’s having playing the character.

Did she watch Doctor Who when she was growing up?
“No! I remember the theme tune but it was never as interesting to me as Basil Brush. I didn’t know the Doctor regenerated until Christopher Eccleston turned into David. It was incredible!”

About stunts…
A: “Kneeling in the TARDIS is like kneeling on razor blades! I’ve got black and blue knees! I got absolutely battered during the first episode. David wants to do all his own stunts, though!”

If she could really time travel, would Catherine go and meet herself in the past…?
“If someone came in now and said, ‘Hi, I’m you at 50!’ you wouldn’t say, ‘Oh, go on, take a seat!’ I can’t answer without my head exploding!”

Read the whole interview in his week’s Doctor Who Adventures magazine. Free with this week’s issue is a deadly Dalek pen and notepad and the second part of a massive double-sided poster – inside the TARDIS on one side, and the monsters of series two on the other.

PLUS:
::Four cool posters: The Fires of Pompeii, an Ood, Donna and a Dalek!
::The Fires of Pompeii: our favourite bits from last week’s episode.
::Planet of the Ood: be prepared for a trip to an alien world.
::Quiz: test your knowledge on The Fires of Pompeii.
::Activity: make your own Son of Mine mask.
::Draw: create your own Dalek Sec Hybrid!
::Doctor's Data: discover Third Doctor facts.
::Puzzle: work out our Krillitane conundrum.
::Comic strip: the final part of The Poison Planet.
::Time Teasers: Tummy of Terror and a parallel picture!
::Who knows! What happened to Margaret Slitheen and why did Lucy shoot the Master?
::Win: goodies up for grabs!
::Subscription offer: if you subscribe you’ll get a FREE Doctor Who audiobook – The Feast of the Drowned.
::AND LOADS MORE!

SJA's America Debut!

(Thanks to Mark for the above pic!)

Tonight "The Sarah Jane Adventures" airs in the United States! It will start at 7.30pm and will begin with episode 1, "The Invasion of the Bane". For those American readers, I have to say that episode is brilliant! Here is what an American Listing magazine had to say:

Series Debut The Sarah Jane Adventures (Grade B) Doctor Who spins off another series, this one for kids (unlike the reliably adult Torchwood). Having survived her galactic stint with the Doctor, Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) settles into a quiet life as a social worker for aliens. Leave it to the new girl next door, Maria (Yasmin Paige), to sniff out her secret, and enlist her in a plot to stop ETs from colonizing Earth with ''organic'' orange soda. The uneven Sarah Jane may be a lesser Who, but it's smarter than most kids' fare. Just don't get attached to Maria's cheeky pal Kelsey (Porsha Lawrence-Mavour) — she's gone after tonight.

And for those of you who just can't wait for the next episodes of SJA, then visit my spin off site that features every episode! Just click here!

Sypnosis
Donna Noble is determined to find the Doctor again – even if it means braving the villainous Miss Foster and her hordes of sinister Adipose. But when the alien threat escalates out of control, can Donna find her Time Lord before the march of the Adipose begins?

Information

Aired: April 5th 2008, 6.20pm, BBC1
Written by: Russell T. Davies
Directed by: James Strong
Cast: David Tennant (The Doctor), Catherine Tate (Donna Noble), Sarah Lancashire (Miss Foster) Jacqueline King (Mrs Noble), Bernard Cribbins (Wilf), and Billie Piper (Rose Tyler)
Unofficial Viewing Figures: 8.7 million
Official Viewing Figures: TBC
Appreciation Index: 88

Main NotesDonna Noble returns in this episode, Rose Tyler makes an appearance which is explained later in episode 11 "Turn Left" and The Doctor admits he treated Martha Jones badly.

Trivia

The episode was filmed in October 2007, in the fourth block of filming in the series and the preview version of the episode which was shown to the press prior to its broadcast did not include the returning scene with Rose. Only the production crew, David Tennant and Catherine Tate had seen it before the public. and David Tennant and Catherine Tate found it so difficult to avoid each other on screen that it took 30 different takes to get the scene done properly.

Bloopers

When Miss Foster is seen cutting the cable of the cleaner's cart, it's the cable on the other side which breaks in the wide shot and the time we first see Donna's car, the numberplate is YD56 VHG. At the end of the episode, it's changed to LN54 VKR. Thanks to WhovianNet for the bloopers and some other info!

The Adipose

They are composed of fat, although they can convert bone, hair and muscle tissue in emergency circumstances. Their breeding world was lost, causing them to turn to the alien "Miss Foster" to create a new generation; she created a drug that would cause human fat to turn into a baby Adipose. Ten thousand were spawned. The official Doctor Who website's Monster Files feature states that the baby Adipose were taken into care by the Shadow Proclamation. Thanks to Wikipedia for this info on the Adipose!

Partners in Crime Review

The first episode of Doctor Who Series 4 has finished and it was brilliant! I think the Adipose are really cute! And the part where the Doctor and Donna were miming through the window was funny! And I know your waiting for me to say it! Rose! Donna asked Rose to tell Sylvia about the keys in the bin! But Rose ignored her or could not hear or maybe even see her. Maybe she was half in the parallel world or something. Well we will just have to wait and see........

I will post about Rose later today!

Goodbye Owen and Tosh

Tonight's episode of Torchwood saw an end to the life of Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato. I was surprised they both died. It's now just Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones. Maybe some new characters in Series 3? Perhaps Martha Jones will be a full time member! Also the Hoix was only in the episode for a minute or so but at least he made an appearance. Anyway it's time for Torchwood to move on........

In other news episode 9 of Series 4 (Doctor Who) has been changed from "Rivers Run" to "Forest of the Dead". Also don't forget to watch David Tennant and Catherine Tate on Jonathan Ross tonight at 10.35pm on BBC1.

Exit Wounds Tonight!

Don't forget to watch the big finale of Torchwood tonight! The episode is called "Exit Wounds" and I would like to thank Mark for the above picture! John Barrowman said that it is going to be the saddest episode and apparently not everyone makes it out alive..... After the long wait for digital viewers, waiting two weeks for this episode, it will be worth the wait because this is to be the best episode yet! There's Captain John Hart, Weevils, the Hoix, Grim Reaper-like creatures, and who knows, maybe something else.... Here is tonight's schedule:

Torchwood - Exit Wounds - 9pm - BBC2
Torchwood - Declassified - 9.50pm - BBC2

Hoix in Torchwood?

I have watched the trailer for Exit Wounds a few times and I have been wandering if that was a Hoix or a Weevil in the trailer? Well I paused it and found out it is more than likely the Hoix! Don't be confused the Weevils are in the trailer as well. Above is the picture of what I think is the Hoix. To view the trailer and judge for yourself click here.

For those of you who don't know, the Hoix is a creature from Series 2 of Doctor Who. He featured in episode 10 "Love and Monsters" for a few minutes as the Doctor and Rose were chased by him. Also there is another preview for Exit Wounds which you can view here.

Torchwood Exit Wounds airs tomorrow (April 4th) at 9pm on BBC2. Also expect a cliffhanger to Series 4 of Doctor Who at the end of the episode. Be warned the Hoix may not feature and there may not be a cliffhanger. Also David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be on GMTV tomorrow at 8:30am.

New Series 4 Filming Pictures

There are new filming pictures of the Doctor, Donna and Rose which have been posted online by the Sun. By the looks of it, it doesn't seem as if Martha is gonna be a big part of the finale but as always we will just have to wait and see! Also apparently Donna dies and Martha stays on Earth and Rose goes with the Doctor in the end. But again, time will tell. To view the pics, click here.

In other news this day one year ago Series 3 launched and you can view pics of the Adipose here and a reminder that you can view the S4 filming pics here. I would also like to wish Anthony Lewis (Tommy from To The Last Man Torchwood S2) and Mark (from Tardis and Torchwood Treasures) a Happy Birthday!
